The Karnali Province government has made the decision to collaborate with the federal government to develop model villages in tourist destinations within the province. This initiative aims to tap into the tourism potential of these areas while promoting their cultural and natural attractions.
As part of this plan, the government has announced its intention to promote the historic Ringmo settlement, situated on the shores of Shey-Phoksundo Lake. Ringmo is known for its rich Buddhist art and cultural heritage. The government has allocated a budget of Rs. 100 million for the Ringmo Settlement Development Programme in the current fiscal year.
Additionally, in a joint venture between the federal and provincial governments, Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla, is slated to be transformed into a gateway to the Mansarobar area. The development of a model village in Kharpu is part of this project, with a budget allocation of Rs. 180 million.
For the current fiscal year, the provincial government has set aside Rs. 10.11 billion for various physical infrastructure, transport, and urban development initiatives in Karnali Province.
