Maivakhola Rural Municipality has taken a significant step towards aiding 65 families displaced by heavy rains and landslides on June 2. Temporary housing units have been handed over to these affected families, marking a crucial milestone in their recovery process.
These temporary shelters have been erected within the premises of the under-construction stadium in Maivakhola Rural Municipality’s Ward 3, Sanghu. The housing units are categorized into three types, labeled as A, B, and C, designed to accommodate 4 to 6 individuals, 6 to 8 individuals, and 8 to 12 individuals, respectively.
In addition to the housing units, the municipality has also ensured the provision of 36 toilets and 18 taps within the complex, addressing the basic hygiene and sanitation needs of the displaced families. Vijay Prakash Vanem, an official of the rural municipality, disclosed that a total of 2.666 million Nepali rupees were allocated for this resettlement initiative, which was part of a larger 15 million Nepali rupee project.
It is worth noting that the funding for this endeavor was supplemented by donor agencies and various supporting organizations. Throughout the construction process, the rural municipality received substantial contributions from teachers, students, local residents, and other concerned individuals.
